A Pit at Kirkby Overblow
A pit, probably for the extraction of iron ore, is indicated by a circular patch of sedge in a boggy hollow. There are signs of other pits nearby.
Slag has been found in and near the gardens at the top of the slope above the pit site.
It is also probable that ore has been extracted from the slope between these two features but any obvious signs will have been obliterated by agricultural improvements
